Mona Charen: Ron Paul “Might Make a Dandy New Leader for the Branch Davidians.” (Ditto Rand)
OK, by now we’re all sure- OK, not all of us, all of us except the Paultard denizens who fear the coming of the Black Helicopters- that Ron and Rand Paul are just a little kooky. Even so, I had to appreciate what Mona Charen said of Ron Paul back in 2007 because most of it was so on target when it comes to Rand. In an editorial entitled “Too Close To Kooky” Charen said-
Ron Paul is unserious. Suggesting that you will eliminate the IRS, the CIA, the FBI and other government agencies within weeks of taking office is ridiculous. These are bumper stickers, not serious reform proposals. (Of course Rand says the same thing.)
Ron Paul is too cozy with kooks and conspiracy theorists. As syndicated radio host Michael Medved has pointed out, Ron Paul’s newspaper column was carried by the American Free Press (a parent publication of the Hitler-praising Barnes Review).
Paul has appeared on the Alex Jones radio program not once, not twice, but three times. Jones is the sort who believes that black helicopters are coming to impose a police state on America. He is quite concerned about the Bohemian Grove, the Bilderbergers, the federal election system (it’s rigged, of course) and so on. Naturally, he believes that 9/11 was an inside job. Ron Paul has even appeared in a Jones film, “Endgame,” the point of which is apparently that the Bilderbergers are plotting to control the world. They’ve already got Europe (through the European Union) and now are on the verge of securing America by means of a North American union that would unite Mexico, the United States and Canada.
Jones asked the congressman whether the victory for the Democrats wasn’t a “rejection of neo-fascist imperialism.” Paul replied, “Yeah . . . This was a healthy election as far as I’m concerned.”
Ron Paul is the favorite candidate of a number of racist, neo-Nazi and conspiracist websites. He received $500 from Don Black, the proprietor of Stormfront.org and former Grand Wizard of the Ku Klux Klan.
Moreover, Paul seems to be playing a sly game with his conspiracy-minded fans. (So does Rand) He does not explicitly endorse the crazier theories out there, but he hints at dark forces in the U.S. government threatening our liberties, he inveighs against the “neo-cons” (shorthand for Jews in some circles) and he gives aid and comfort to the paranoid by appearing on their favorite radio shows.
No, Ron Paul is not my candidate. Not for president. He might make a dandy new leader for the Branch Davidians.

Well at least you moved up from “Citation Needed” to using an editorial. I know it is not real journalism but good job, Mike. You are learning, maybe you will eventually learn enough here to help fix your counties failed Republican Party. A County Party that continues to FAIL under YOUR leadership. Maybe if you spent less time on your computer you might get some Republican in your county elected.

really all you need to do is post a copy of the Ron Paul Newsletters, paticularly the insane Solicitation Letter. Combined with all the 9/11 Truthers that love him, the Birchers and his countless Apperances on Alex Jones idiotic radio show.
How about the time he accussed the CinC of attempting to do a “False Flag Operation” to pave way for war with innocent little Iran on the House Floor?

http://screwloosechange.blogspot.com/2007/11/ron-paul-on-afghanistan-oil-pipelines.html
JW: What about Afghanistan? Would you continue the operations there?
RP: No, I would come home, unless there was specific knowledge of where Osama bin Laden was. Then I send out just a small team of people to take care of him. I would not maintain the occupation of Afghanistan. That was mainly motivated by oil pipelines and some other things that are never discussed.
JW: Could you elaborate a little bit how oil pipelines were the motivation for going into Afghanistan?
RP: It’s been known that certain oil companies were anxious for many, many years to be able to transverse Afghanistan to move natural gas. And that effort is still alive and well. Too often, whether it’s a pipeline in Afghanistan or control of oil wells in Iraq, oil and economics motivates our national policy much more so than national security.

Liberty, how might i ask, is it beneficial for the citizens of the United States for our government to unconditionally support Israel? And how does having a constant military presence around the world esp. the Middle East somehow save American lives?
The Pauls support a strong national defense, the difference is they want it to defend Americans instead of the rest of the world.
Do you really believe that the so called “war on terror” has saved American lives and lessened the hatred of America in the Muslim world? Do you really think that our foriegn policy is not at all influenced by the interests of the corporations who profit from the military-industrial complex?

This is all a pretty big stretch, Mike, even for you. You must be desperate if you’re tossing out nonsense like this and making accusations based on guilt by association of association (sic).
We wish it were possible for us to check IPs of posts, cause we’re fairly sure that “Liberty” is just another alias Mike is using to make his site appear to have more supporters. The style of posting, the incredibly weak sources being cited, the grasping-at-straw-style accusations… it all seems the same.

Rand Paul is way ahead on this, He actually understands economics, Is a practicing doctor (who better to advise the senate on health care issues) and he is not a career politician.
When all else fails he still has his father a guy so unpopular that he was elected 11 times to ask advice from
its refreshing to see someone like Rand running for office instead of the old party hacks that are on the take.
